Raymond Burket aka “djembe ray”

Percussion Instructor

Raymond has been playing and teaching Mande percussion for over 14 years. His teacher, mentor and friend is world renowned djembefola Mamady Keita whom he has studied with since 1996. Since that time Raymond has attended and assisted in hundreds of hours of workshops with Mr. Keita including two extended trips to Guinea, West African and numerous professional level workshops. He is a founding board member of the non-profit school of West African Percussion, Tam Tam Mandingue USA (TTM USA), with Mamady Keita, Monette Marino-Keita, Mahiri Keita and Pam Greer. He is also a former instructor at TTM San Diego. Other significant teachers and influences include Monette Marino-Keita, Mahiri Keita and Famoudou Konate. Raymond continues to attend workshops with Mr. Keita and others on an annual basis in order to preserve and further his knowledge to bring back to students in Montana and to maintain his connection with the greater national and international West African drum and dance community.

Michael Dean

Dancer, Drummer and Deal-maker

MIchael Dean is a long-time resident of Bozeman. He has been studying dance with Ginny Watts for over two years and has recently initiated his study in Mande percussion.
